Chapter 439: Letting You Off the Hook
Xiaoze was utterly mortified and looked to Mu Yiliang for help, but it was Jason who eventually rescued him.
"Alright... Xiao Qi, we really should get going!" he said, half amused, half exasperated, stopping the woman from further antics.
Xiao Qi reluctantly let go: "Fine, I’ll let you off today!"
Xiaoze wore a look of someone who just survived a disaster and hurriedly hid behind Mu Yiliang, who tried to stifle her laughter as she shielded her son.
"Mu, we’re leaving now," Xiao Qi said her reluctant farewell, "I’ll come to the Yan Mansion in a few days to find you!"
She finished her sentence with a threatening glare at Xiaoze.
Jason bid farewell to Mu Yiliang and instinctively glanced at Yan Sijue.
The man had a faint smile, but his gaze remained stern. Jason felt a sinking feeling and quickly diverted his eyes and left with Xiao Qi.
Behind Mu Yiliang, Xiaoze let out a long breath: "Aunt Xiaoqi is really scary."
Mu Yiliang snorted and picked him up: "Look at you, all dirty! Your Aunt Xiaoqi couldn’t give you a bath, but your mommy certainly can!"
"No way!" Xiaoze protested, looking frustrated, "I’m not a two-year-old kid anymore!"
Yan Sijue chuckled as he took his son from her hands: "I’ll take him."
Mu Yiliang could only reluctantly watch the father and son walk away. Sigh, how did Xiaoze suddenly get to this age... If only there were another little child to dress up and play with.
At this thought, she suddenly realized she could no longer have children, and her heart sank.
She always thought that she didn’t care about it, but here was a moment of faint sadness nonetheless...
But it was only for an instant, and she cast the feeling aside... If that wish couldn’t be fulfilled, she’d just have to wait for Xiaoze to grow up, get married, and have a kid for her to spoil. Hahaha!

After parting with Mu Yiliang, Jason’s expression darkened, and Xiao Qi noticed it accidentally, jumping in surprise. Had she gone too far with her teasing earlier?
"What’s wrong?" she asked cautiously.
"It’s nothing," Jason replied with a smile, "I was just thinking about our upcoming plans and suddenly felt a bit aimless."
There was no need to tell Xiao Qi about Yan Sijue’s demands, it would only add unnecessary worry.
Xiao Qi frowned slightly: "Why don’t we go back to our old line of work? No, no, it’s still too dangerous. Even when there were four of us, we’d occasionally slip up, let alone now it’s just the two of us! Robert is busy with his own stuff lately, he definitely won’t join us!"
Jason suddenly asked: "Xiao Qi, do you also think we should choose a less dangerous job?"
"Of course, we already discussed this, didn’t we?" Xiao Qi replied, a bit puzzled, "Do you have other ideas? No worries, tell me, as long as it’s something you want to do, it’s okay. You don’t need to worry too much about what others think."
Jason pondered for a moment, then suddenly smiled calmly: "You’re right."
After all, he never intended to choose a high-risk job, so why should he care about Yan Sijue’s threats? As long as he knows that his choice comes from his own heart, that’s enough.
"What do you really want to do, tell me!" Xiao Qi suddenly asked, her voice alluring, her eyes tender enough to wring water from.
Jason’s face instantly flushed with embarrassment and irritation: "Why are you talking like that?"
"How did I talk?" Xiao Qi blinked her eyes, feigning innocence.
Jason felt parched and hurried his pace! Xiao Qi stifled her laughter from behind, her stomach hurting from holding it in.
