Mu Yuze, the little guy, was utterly heartbroken! He accusingly looked at his daddy, but Yan Sijue was completely unfazed. He still smiled back at him, looking as justified as could be.
"Hmph! Considering you two have just made up!" Unable to match his dad’s imposing aura, Xiaoze had to find his own way out.
Yan Sijue kept smiling silently.
Xiaoze was furious and looked at Mu Yiliang, saying, "Mommy, you said you’d sleep with me tonight, didn’t you?"
How could Mu Yiliang not give her son face? She immediately nodded sincerely.
The hand Yan Sijue was using to hold his cup paused as he gave Mu Yiliang a meaningful look.
Mu Yiliang looked up at the sky.
He had no choice but to turn his gaze to his son, "Xiaoze, you’re almost six years old now."
"But I just want to sleep with mommy," Xiaoze emphasized forcefully, hugging Mu Yiliang’s arm, "And mommy agreed!"
Yan Sijue had no choice but to reluctantly squeeze out a sentence: "Just this one night."
Xiaoze snorted, "Let’s talk about tomorrow, tomorrow."
Trying to fool him? No way!
Feeling he had gained a victory, he strutted back to his room.
Yan Sijue still wore a dark expression, and Mu Yiliang comforted him: "Forget it, there’s nothing you can do anyway."
His face turned even more unpleasant.
Mu Yiliang chuckled happily, only to be scooped up by someone.
"Ah! What are you doing?"
"Moon-gazing!"
So, a minute later, Mu Yiliang and the man were sitting side by side in the yard... gazing at the moon.
Though the night was dark and windy, only a few stars were visible, her mood inexplicably became a bit excited.
"Si Jue, would you say we’re dating?"
"You want to remarry? Then let’s get the certificate tomorrow!" The man’s eyes lit up.
"...No, no rush, I’ve never been in a relationship before." Mu Yiliang continued excitedly, "This is my first time being in love."
Young Master Yan chuckled, wanting to remind her that they had already been married once and their son was six, but seeing her face light up with excitement like a girl’s, his heart suddenly felt soft.
His voice grew hoarse: "What a coincidence, so am I."
Mu Yiliang turned her head to look at him, her gaze flickering: "Will we be together forever?"
The man wrapped an arm around her shoulders, gently murmuring in a deep and firm voice: "We will, we’ll always be together."
Mu Yiliang leaned against his chest, feeling his heartbeat, suddenly spoke: "Actually, I always thought you didn’t like me that much. I thought that once you got me, you’d quickly lose interest."
Yan Sijue’s arm tightened: "But in reality, my feelings for you only deepened. Even I was surprised that one day I would love a woman this much."
Mu Yiliang’s heart trembled, her voice slightly choked: "Why though, what do you love about me?"
"So it turns out Lady Mu has so little confidence in herself?" He raised an eyebrow, but his eyes were full of amusement.
Mu Yiliang immediately became angry: "Who says? You must have fallen for my beauty! And my figure!"
"Yes, I love your beauty and figure..." he chuckled softly, but a warm flow surged in his heart.
What did he love about her? So many things, he loved her cleverness and wit, her confidence and freedom, and even more, he loved the fatal purity and kindness beneath her seemingly worldly-wise exterior.
He grew up in hell and had seen too many of humanity’s dark sides, so he instinctively disliked calculating women, and those overly naive about the world, but the only exception was this woman beside him, who was used to scheming intrigues yet still retained a child’s heart. Her purity and fearless abandon were not from ignorance but stemmed from her confidence and compassion.
