"Miss Su, Miss Su? What are you thinking about? You seem so distracted," Green said, looking quite curious as he glanced at Su Yanyi from time to time.
"Distracted isn’t the right word to use here, Mr. Green. You still need to work on your Mandarin," Su Yanyi replied. She was somewhat absent-minded, but not to the point of being completely lost in thought; she was still aware of her surroundings.
"Haha, okay, I’ll work on it. But, Miss Su, what were you thinking just now? I’m very curious," Green pressed on, not minding Su Yanyi’s comment about his Mandarin. He was persistent in asking what Su Yanyi had been thinking, his expression inexplicable.
"Curiosity in a man can seem very childish. You should be more mature, don’t you think, Madam?" Su Yanyi had no intention of answering such a question and instead directed the conversation to Madam Ingrid, who had been enjoying the show. Yanyi was not particularly fond of the lady’s attitude as a mere spectator.
"Hehe, you two children chat away; I, as an old lady, won’t interfere. Just talk amongst yourselves; I’ll eat my food and you can ignore me," Madam Ingrid said with a chuckle, clearly indicating she had no intention of responding and was content to simply watch the exchange.
Suddenly, Su Yanyi understood why her mother and Madam Ingrid were good friends; they shared the same type of personality that enjoyed watching the excitement unfold, which was truly not very endearing.
"How could you be old, Madam? Standing next to Green, you look more like siblings," Su Yanyi remarked. She wasn’t merely flattering Madam Ingrid; it was a fact. Madam Ingrid looked very young, seemingly only in her thirties, and indeed appeared more like Green’s sister rather than his mother when they stood together.
"Hehehe, Yanyi can be quite witty at times, quite unexpected," Madam Ingrid laughed heartily, but then quickly changed the subject, speaking to Green, "Green, in the future, you must collaborate well with Miss Su. Whenever you have time, try to exchange more with her. Miss Su is quite remarkable."
"Yes, mother, I am aware. Miss Su, do you have time this afternoon? I have a business proposal unrelated to medicine that I’d like to discuss with you. I wonder if you might be interested," Green said with a smile, extending an invitation that seemed quite sincere.
