Chapter 201: Dared To
DAHLIA POV
I gripped my sword tightly prepared to defend myself when all of a sudden, I was shoved to the side and Branderson stepped forward with nothing but an iron rod in his hand which he used to block the attack of one of the soldiers who had swung with his sword. The clash of iron and steel could be heard clearly as Branderson faced off the soldier, gritting his teeth as he shoved the soldier away.
Branderson might have been locked up in the prison and treated poorly but there was no denying the fact that he was strong. The soldier might be better looking than him but Branderson was bigger and he used that to his advantage. From my peripheral vision, I saw another of the soldier advance towards Branderson. I immediately sprang into action.
Gripping my sword tight, I ran forward blocking the attack before it could reach Branderson. My limbs screamed in protest but I ignored it and focused on the burning anger that I kept locked away after months of staying in this place. Shoving him backwards, I spun to the other side swinging my sword which made a quick cut to the soldier’s side. He grunted in pain but I wasn’t done yet, without giving any momentum to collect himself, I flipped my sword using my wrist before I drove t into his side that was without armor.
The soldier went down without any fight and I turned only to see Branderson fending off two soldiers who were trying to take him down. At first I considered helping him but it turns out that he could hold his own in a fight. Branderson moved fast even though he was big, he moved and struck with his iron, each strike more harder than the last which I had no doubt was from years of being locked up. He fought like this was the only chance he had to release his pent up frustration.
His iron rod clashing with the swords filled the air and I was quite positive the iron must be heavy and hurting his wrist. Branderson didn’t seem to mind because the look on his face was one of pure anger. He twisted to the side and used the iron rod to knock away the arm of the soldier causing his sword to fall down to the ground. Before he could say anything else Branderson rammed the iron rod through his left eye. The people gasped in horror as blood spurt out, some fell on Branderson’s face as the soldier fell down to the ground.
"Brandy, watch out!" I yelled when the third soldier approached Branderson who turned slowly but it was already too late.
The soldier used his sword to cut Branderson on his back. I watched as Branderson let out a small grunt in response. I decided to step in just then. Lifting my sword and testing the weight slightly in my arms, I threw it at the soldier who turned just in time to block it by using his sword to counter the attack.
A smirk formed on his face which I returned, it was already too late. Branderson grabbed the soldier’s neck and he one swift movement, he twisted it to the side.
