THE Knight's Hidden Princess

Chapter 122 - 8 Letters

DAHLIA POV

Reagan took me to his room immediately. He ordered for someone to send for Heather to go and fetch my things from the house. He went to the bathroom and set up things for me so I’ll have a bath which I appreciated but at the same time, I can’t just help to feel something is clearly wrong here.

After everything I had confessed to Reagan didn’t even bat an eye at my confession. I had half expected him to charge into the dungeon with anger and I had mentally prepared myself for it. What I had not prepared for however was the gentleness in his gaze when I admitted into taking Celeste’s life and I’m pretty sure Marina and Celeste would have told him more than what I had confessed.

Reagan isn’t one to keep his temper in check especially when it had been done in his own household and had threatened the whole family. But he had done none of that and instead asked me if I was okay and then he kissed me after telling me he missed me.

I had practically melted into the kiss because he was right, I did miss him and I thought I would be strong but the moment he pressed his lips on mine everything I was thinking about melted away completely. All my worries, all my thoughts of protecting the one person immediately vanished because all that mattered right now is Reagan and I.

I didn’t oppose when he led me to his chambers and when I entered the bathroom, I allowed the water to cascade gently on my skin as the tension slowly released its hold on my body. The hot bath erased my tired muscle weight as well as the night’s accumulated stress but my thoughts stayed active as I continued to think about Reagan who had remained gentle with me, treating me like I was something precious.

I released a nervous breath as I raked a hand through my wet hair.

I tried to find hope that this would become my lasting reality. The comforting atmosphere of Reagan’s touch made me wish to stay with him permanently but my mind wasn’t willing to accept it. No matter how relaxed I might be there was still going to something that will be waiting to pull me back into that storm.

I exhaled sharply as I turned off the faucet. Then I grabbed a towel and dried myself up along with my hair. I reached for the robe that Heather had placed into the bathroom, tying it around my waist. I stepped back into the bedroom and I met Reagan talking to someone in hushed whispers. I couldn’t see the person because he was hidden behind the door.

Reagan turned to look at me and he bid whoever it was that was at the door goodnight and then after that he turned to look at me. I noticed his hair was damp and he wore a only a silky pajama trousers which meant he must have taken a shower.

"Who was that?" I asked him.
