THE Knight's Hidden Princess

Chapter 73: Just A Couple Lashings

"My lady!" Heather yelled out loud when she heard the news, struggling against the maids who held her tightly.

Fifty lashings? Was she serious? I glanced up at Madam Heidi who stared at me with her usual look calm authority as if she had just casually requested for one of my toys to be thrown away rather than a brutal punishment. My hands curled into a fist and when the maids begin to unzip my dress, reality set in and I struggled against them.

"You cannot do this!" I yelled but no one seemed to listen to me, "You cannot do this, unhand me this instant!" I yelled at but no one seemed to be listening.

Glaring up at Madam Heidi who had now turned her back on me and was heading towards Marina, I decided to try another approach. "My father will hear of this!" I yelled out loud, halting Madam in her tracks.

Of course that would be the only thing to stop her! I thought to myself as I stared at Madam Heidi feeling a little bit of triumph when she turned to look at me with a smile on her face.

"Your father?" Madam Heidi asked before she walked towards me. Her blue eyes assessed me before she reached out to remove the tiara on my head, "You must have think your status mattered here and like I said it’s my fault for making you think you were so special!"

Oh the irony of it all! I thought to myself unable to resist rolling my eyes at her. Madam Heidi had never failed to remind me of how worthless I could be and making me think I was special? She has never done such a thing, never even treated me like a princess and had no respect for the crown on my head.

My jaw tightened when she ran her fingers over the tiara as though it belonged to her, as if she was entitled to and then before I knew it, her fingers tightened over my tiara and then she threw it across the room causing me to gasp at that and I wasn’t the only one in the room who did so.

"Meaningless." Madam Heidi said, "You must have fooled yourself into thinking you still have every bit of power, but you do not, at least not in this household. If you wanted to keep your title then you should have married someone with more power, rather than a common knight." She hissed at me and as if remembering that we weren’t alone, she turned to look at Lady Marina whose mouth had now thinned. "No offense of course my lady."

Lady Marian smiled but it didn’t quite reach her eyes as she stared at Madam Heidi, "But of course." She replied before she motioned for one of her ladies in waiting to pour her tea inside her cup.

Madam Heidi turned to look at this, "Well then, I’m sure after this you will have learned your less on by now, especially when it comes to respecting your elder ones!"

Gritting my teeth, I glared at her. "My father will hear of this!"
