Chapter 54: The Rebels Demand
I had been kidnapped!
The shocking horrifying truth settled in me as I was shoved into the ground roughly. My hands scraped against the dirt, pain shooting up against my palms and the impact sent more pain to my arm that was still trying to heal from the wounds. I barely had the time to react before I was suddenly yanked back up to my feet and made to sit somewhere that felt like a wood.
"Stay right here and don’t go anywhere!" A gruff voice ordered in the darkness that surrounded me.
I turned my head towards the voice, trying to see who was talking but the black sack that had been placed over my head obscured my vision. Immediately they found me in the woods, the men wasted no time in acting like bunch of barbarians.
They had shoved a sack of clothing on my head and had heaved me over my shoulders carrying me to the woods. I could have fought them and taken them on but part of me was curious as to who this people were, besides I needed to be careful and be rational about it.
The blindfold was suddenly yanked away from my head and I squinted a little bit, trying to make my eyes adjusted to the sudden brightness. Four men stood in front of me, their faces covered by a mask, only their eyes which gazed coldly at me were visible.
"So this is the famous princess of Iravia?" The man in a gruff voice said, "The great King Sigurd most prized treasure?"
If only that were true! I thought to myself wryly as I stared at the men. "Who are you and what do you want with me?"
"Revenge." Another man said, his voice was low and calm but it was filled with anger, an emotion I was all too familiar with from the people under my father’s rule.
