Chapter 1426 - 1433: He’s Here (4)
The old man’s study was located on the east side of the garden, quite a distance from Mo Zili’s Cool Autumn Pavilion. Led by Old Yan and accompanied by two little boys carrying lanterns, the group of four made seven or eight turns, and after nearly half a Shi Chen, they finally reached the old man’s study.
"Young Master, the Duke of the Country is inside waiting for you. Please go in quickly!"
Old Yan stopped at the entrance and pulled aside the door curtain to let Mo Zili enter alone, while he himself stood guard outside, forbidding anyone else to approach.
Mo Zili nodded and entered. The old man’s study was decorated very elegantly and simply, yet all the furnishings were of the highest quality. Inside the room, the finest Silvered frost Charcoal was burning, spreading a warm atmosphere. Behind the bookcase, the old man with his white hair and beard was busy writing and did not look up at the sound.
"Grandfather, did you call for me?" Mo Zili stepped forward and solemnly bowed.
The old man did not raise his head, nor did he even utter a "hmm" until he had finished writing the piece. Only then did he put down his brush and waved his hand, "Get up, come here!"
Mo Zili said "Yes," straightened up, and walked forward to the old man’s bookcase. The old man took the freshly written piece of calligraphy and handed it to Mo Zili, saying, "Take this writing back with you and hang it on the wall to remind you always to be magnanimous and upright, with a conscience clear and unashamed."
Mo Zili took the paper and saw that on the gold-sprinkled Xuan paper, in golden hook and iron stroke, was written the character "Upright."
