Chapter 1369 - 1376: Jealousy (9)
Cai Wei laughed and said, "Zhao Gui has always been meticulous and overly cautious, thinking too much, unlike you who are like a mischievous monkey, despite being the precious daughter of a wealthy family!"
Shuya giggled with nonchalance and sat next to Cai Wei.
Blushing, Zhao Gui laughed and said, "Your Majesty is being too modest. Zhao Gui does not dare to accept such praise!"
"Come, take a seat quickly, don’t be so ceremoniously polite. Otherwise, all the delicious food will be devoured by Shuya and Zhao Yun!" Cai Wei called the shop assistant over to bring bowls and chopsticks, and small dishes, inviting them to taste the hotpot.
At first, Shuya ate quite daintily, but after a few bites, she became somewhat impatient, much like Xiang Yun when she first ate hotpot. Meanwhile, Zhao Gui was much more elegant, always eating small bites, carefully picking up tiny pieces to avoid the ungainliness of biting into large chunks.
Both girls were in their prime, delicate as tender onions; one lively, the other serene, one literate, the other martial - they complemented each other beautifully. It was just unclear which one would catch the eye of Situ Changge.
Cai Wei kept an eye on Situ Changge’s expressions while eating but noticed that he was rather indifferent, hardly paying much attention to anyone. If there was anyone he did observe, it was Xiang Yun, presumably because he was a bit more familiar with her than with the other two.
After eating for a while, Mo Shuya mumbled to Xiang Yun, "Youngest Aunt, why aren’t you eating?"
Hearing this, Situ Changge’s brow furrowed suddenly, a faint displeasure appearing on his face.
Xiang Yun coughed and said, "Shuya, have you forgotten? I’m no longer your Youngest Aunt!"
Shuya shrank her neck and stuck out her tongue, saying, "I got used to calling you that and forgot, I am sorry, Xiang Yun!"
Xiang Yun waved her hand dismissively and said, "It’s nothing. Just remember not to call me that in public anymore!"
Shuya said straightforwardly, "Rest assured, Xiang Yun. I won’t make the same mistake again. But honestly, you’re really doing well now, much better than when you were with Uncle Li. Ever since the divorce, he’s been like a soulless man, constantly thinking about how to reconcile with you. You have no idea, just a few days ago, he heard that an official matchmaker had visited your place. He was so scared that he ran to my great-grandfather, insisting on proposing to you again and remarrying you."
