Seeing him enjoy his food thoroughly, Cai Wei served him an egg in the dish in front of him. She chopped up the egg and mixed it with sauce. This level of attentive service was the first he’d ever received; so he just grinned happily as he ate, not saying a word.
Such treatment wasn’t commonplace. He wasn’t sure when she’d serve him like this next, so he had to cherish it.
Breakfast took nearly half an hour. After they finished, Nangong Yi stood up, looking quite satisfied.
"Madam, I am leaving for the battlefield. Do you have any words for me?"
Cai Wei said, "Take care and look after yourself, I’ll be waiting for you to come back."
As she spoke, she handed over a small bundle she had prepared.
"Here are a few bottles of hemostatic meds, trauma medicine and a few more for bruises and injuries. They’re far better than what the army doctors prescribe. Use them sparingly. There are also some flower teas. I thought though tea might keep you alert, it’d prevent you from sleeping at night. So I prepared these teas for you, keep them for your use."
Nangong Yi took the small bundle, hugged her and snuggled his face into her neck, whispering, "Thank you, Madam. Stay here and wait for my good news."
Cai Wei nodded, thought for a moment, and said, "Don’t forget your promise to me. Do not massacre the city. Try to force Tuoba Kui to surrender."
The man agreed. He held her again for a while and then set off with his troops.
