Chapter 229: One Hundred and Tenth Evil Spirit (1)_1
Once Lady Zhang’s Brothers took the silver, they instantly became freemen, no longer prisoners in the hands of the yamen runners. They bid farewell to their new master and left with the high arresting officer to have their charges dropped at the County Government Office. Meanwhile, Cai Wei mounted her horse and headed towards Qingyun Town.
Halfway there, she suddenly felt something was off. It was as if a pair of sinister eyes were watching her from behind, but when she turned to look, she found nothing.
Such feeling got stronger as the day went on, and she couldn’t bear it. She used her thoughts to summon Brother Ying the mythical bird, whose eyes had penetrating abilities that could see everything within its field of vision.
Upon receiving her command, Brother Ying immediately flew up into the air. His bean-sized eyes suddenly emitted a blinding golden light covering half a mile radius around Cai Wei. After the golden glow receded, he suddenly swooped down like lightning towards a snowbank at the side of the road and snatched out a monkey the size of a rat.
The monkey looked strange, no, it shouldn’t be called a monkey, because even though it had a monkey’s shape, it had a face similar to a human being, and even its facial expressions were almost human-like.
Brother Ying’s sharp claws firmly held it, bringing it over to Cai Wei.
The creature writhed in its small body, letting out high pitched squeals, a pair of red eyes staring eerily at Cai Wei.
Cai Wei was slightly creeped out by this creature that looked half-human, half-monkey, and half-rat. She asked with a disgusted frown, "Brother Ying, what is this thing?"
Brother Ying said, "It’s a Little Ghost."
Cai Wei was startled by the answer, shivering in disbelief, "A Little Ghost? You must be joking, where does a little ghost come from in broad daylight?"
Brother Ying said, "This Little Ghost was raised with Evil Yin Spirits by people. It was transformed by evil spirit energy and is controlled by a person’s thoughts, much like how you can control us..."
