Chapter 1284: The Three Kings
The daoist priest began to undergo a transformation as he spoke, and by the end, all that was left was a dark green, ape-like ghostly creature with a wizened body.
The creature had a large head with a protruding forehead and a pair of sunken eyes, as well as a rather flat nose and mouth that also protruded outward slightly. Its fur was no different from that of a normal monkey, and it's skin was riddled with old scars.
The ghostly creature was hanging its head in a defeated manner, having just had its ruse exposed by Han Li.
"Who are you, and how are you related to Xue Li?" Han Li asked.
"I am King Gui Wu, and I once ruled over one of the three major regions of the underworld. I fell prey to a ploy meant to turn me against King Xue Li, and I sealed him on the Bridge of Forgetfulness. After that, a wedge was driven between me and the Infernal King as well, and in the end, the only one to benefit was the one who had turned the three of us against one another," the ghostly creature sighed in a forlorn manner.
Its gaze then flickered to Weeping Soul again as if it were gauging her reaction.
"You're King Gui Wu?" Han Li asked as he raised an eyebrow.
"You can just call me Gui Wu, Fellow Daoist. Right now, I have no forces under my command, nor do I possess any power, so I'm hardly a king," Gui Wu replied with a wry smile.
"I have no interest in hearing about your past. Right now, I only want to know two things from you. Firstly, why did you lead us here, and secondly, do you know where the Yama Manor is?" Han Li asked.
"I led you here because I knew that you could free me," Gui Wu replied.
"Why should we help you? We were careless and offered our help to Xue Li earlier, and he immediately turned on us as soon as we broke his seal!" Han Li harrumphed coldly.
