Conflicts in the sect are allowed as long as they follow the rules, and the punishment for such conflicts is very minimal. Since it is a conflict, consent from both parties isn't required; one disciple can attack another disciple as long as it isn't an ambush and their cultivation realm is the same.
Killing and crippling in minor conflicts aren't allowed. There is a challenge arena for these types of things, where one disciple can challenge another to a death match, but only if the sect allows it.
