Chapter 81: Hot topic
I snapped my head around to find myself coming face to face with none other than Blake who had this smug look plastered across his face and I couldn’t wait to wipe that smirk off his face.
His grip around my arm tightened as a smirk played on his lips as his eyes held mine captive. "Are you perhaps...afraid of me?" He questioned with a raised brow, deliberately drawing out every single syllable as if he was savouring each word.
I let out a loud scoff as I glared at him and quickly yanked my arm out of his tight grasp.
"Why would I be?" I retorted, my sharp voice slicing through the tension that was lingering in the air between us as my eyes gleamed with a mixture of determination and defiance. "You don’t scare me at all."
There was a brief pause before a deep chuckle escaped from his lips as he continued to mock and taunt me relentlessly. "Are you sure about that? Then why are you rushing off? Do you have somewhere to be?" He questioned intensely. "I swore I saw you speed walking past me while you kept your head hung low. It was almost as if you were... avoiding me," he snarled, arrogance laced his voice as he smiled.
I let out an exhale, an incredulous look was now stretched across my face as I kept my gaze steady. "I don’t have to answer to you," I replied coldly with a distant look etched onto my face. "We have been divorced for some time now and we have nothing to do with each other now, remember?" I answered curtly, my tone carrying a sharp edge to it.
He scoffed loudly too, still remaining arrogant as he spoke.
"We may have nothing to do with each other but you are still carrying our child in our stomach, you can’t escape from me, Aurelia. You can try but it’s not going to work," he sneered with a disdainful scorn, as his face got dangerously close to me and I could even feel his hot breath fanning the nape of my neck. "One day, the child is going to find out that you are hiding a secret from him, you are forbidding him from reuniting with his own biological father while you raise him with that useless man. Doesn’t that sound terrible? How are you going to explain and redeem yourself then?" He asked, his voice dropping to a hush whisper as each word that left his lips was dripping with malice.
My features hardened and I clenched my jaws tightly. Before I knew it, I raised my hand and landed a hard slap across his cheek, the sound of the impact echoing in the lobby and eliciting gasps from the people who were watching.
"Don’t you dare threaten me with our child," I warned through gritted teeth as he stared at me with a fiery blaze swirling in the depths of his icy blue eyes, it was almost as if he wanted me dead. "I don’t need your fake concern and sarcasm."
"Have you fucking lost your mind?!" He screamed loudly, so loud that his voice cracked towards the end of the sentence. His face began to turn red and he clenched his jaws tightly. "Who gave you the right to slap me?" He spat the words out of his mouth as he drew in deep breaths in an attempt to calm his racing heart.
I let the corners of my lips twitch upwards to form a small smile and my eyes twinkled with a knowing look. "Maybe I did lose my mind..." my voice trailed off as my eyes were still fixated on him. "Are you going to do something about it?" I taunted as the smirk on my face grew wider within the next second.
