The Sweetest Temptation

Chapter 267: Help

So much for trying to get drunk... I can’t even get past three shot glasses of what I really need to get wasted.

She thought to herself with such heaviness that filled her. The foreboding came creeping in, making her feel less like the way that she wanted to feel—confident, fearless, a woman with an unwavering self-esteem, just like the one that she willingly showed to the man who had just cheated on her.

What am I saying?! He’s not my boyfriend. What’s all the fuss about cheating on whom? Of course, I was only cheating myself. She thought once again, blaming herself for accepting the shitty relationship in the first place. It was not her place to feel sad just because her official fuck buddy was seen with another woman.

Oh, Stella, you’re such a dumb bitch! She thought to herself, smacking her face and reaching out her glass for her third shot. While she was at it, someone walked up to where she was, facing her with a smile that creeped her to the bone. But, thanks to the gradual invasion of the alcohol she had taken, to her mind, she was feeling very confident and sure of herself, which made it easier for her to remain seated and face her visitor.

"Do you want something?" She asked, not paying him as much as a glance. The person laughed a deep rumbling sound that hinted at a man, likely in his late forties.

What the hell is he doing here? I’m old enough to be his great granddaughter.

"As a matter of fact, I do." He replied, taking his seat beside her and reaching his hand out toward her. She rearranged her sitting posture, turning to behold the person who dared to disturb her peace.

The man was a brunette of about average height, towering over her by as little as a foot. He was a basic pretty boy who, from the way he smacked his lips and swayed from side to side, felt extremely sure that he could get any booty if he simply asked. Unfortunately for him, Stella was in no mood to play, especially not with the likes of him.

"Would you like to know what that is?" he asked, leaning forward a little too close for her. She leaned back slightly, thanks to her inebriation, she was able to make it obvious to him that she truly wanted to be far from him.

"Um, personal space, have you heard about that?" She retorted heatedly, her rage tipping just at the verge of release.

"Does it really matter when I want you?" He asked, once again, making that most annoying gesture of pulling his lip between his teeth and smacking hard. Stella rolled her eyes and turned to face the bartender.

"Two more shots, please," She moaned, leaning her temple back at the edge of the serving table while she waited. The annoyingly persistent dude drew closer, bringing his hand to rest on her back—that was the icebreaker. She shot back to a sitting position, turning to meet his playful stare mixed with something potent that hinted at lust.
