Chapter 254: [Bonus - ] A fight
The drive to the hotel was shrouded in an eerie silence, drowning Stella in a wave of anxiety she had never quite experienced before. A peculiar sense of nostalgia washed over her, reminiscent of her past with Nolan. There were moments they would venture out together, much like her outing with Matteo. Yet, those occasions would abruptly come to an end, with Nolan pressing in too closely, insisting they had to get going.
Upon returning home, he would subject her to a barrage of accusations, convinced she had been flirting with other men when in reality, she had merely longed for his protection as her boyfriend. Tonight’s situation bore similarities, although Stella was very aware that she was at fault this time. Still, she couldn’t shake the assurance that she was safe. Despite everything, she knew she was in safe hands.
Or was it only because they were not in a committed relationship? What if Matteo turned out to be no different from her ex-boyfriend? An unsettling thump resonated within her chest as she turned her gaze to study his profile.
His jaw appeared rigid, likely due to his teeth clenching in an attempt to maintain control. In this moment, he bore an uncanny resemblance to her sulking boyfriend, angered by her innocent dance with a man who happened to be interested in another man.
I want to see the look on his face when I tell him that Mr. Gerald is actually gay. It would make him look stupid, that’s for sure.
The limousine came to a halt in front of the hotel within a matter of minutes. Matteo, without a word, opened the door and stepped out, leaving Stella in a state of stunned confusion. She watched him stride toward the hotel entrance, her mind spinning with questions about his intentions.
His behaviour made no sense because, he had beckoned her to join him, and now he was abandoning her in the car.
She had thought of calming him down and apologizing for her behaviour. But with what he pulled right here, she would be damned if she opened her mouth to tell him that she was wrong.
"Do you need help ma’am?"
Her brows furrowed with displeasure as she took the chauffeur’s waiting hand, picked the materials of her gown and trotted into the hotel in a most undignified manner.
Upon entering the hotel, Stella caught sight of Matteo acquiring the room key from the receptionist. Determined to address the situation, she disregarded the pleasantries exchanged and hastened after him as he made his way toward the elevator.
"Matteo! Don’t you dare," She called out, her impatience and warning ringing clear in her voice. As he stepped inside the elevator, he watched her approach, struggling under the weight of her cumbersome attire that hindered her movements. However, he remained rooted in place, making no effort to assist her.
