Chapter 251: A dance
Stella raked her gaze around the room, completely oblivious to her original intentions. She had hoped to occupy herself with sightseeing, and Gerald had been kind enough to suggest just that. But she could not deceive herself any longer. Even if her mind is set on making Matteo regret his decision, she was not cut out for being left alone.
The table that she sat on was filled with Asians and Indians, completely foreign to her. So, there was no way she could successfully start and hold a conversation with them. But she could tell from their deliberately lingering stares that they were interested in her. She shuddered slightly and served herself a hearty portion of wine, trying hard to avoid eye contact while at it.
Ten minutes had gone by since she stepped into the room, and she had not set her eyes on Sebastian. The event had already begun and Gerald was on the stage, giving a speech of thanks for the attendance. Apparently, it was an event made to launch a hotel – his hotel, and the reception was being held in the grand Hall space which was located in the hotel.
She served herself another reasonable portion of wine and downed it in one go.
"You’ll get wasted if you take wine like that. Forget about the alcohol content." She averted her gaze to the person that had obviously spoken to her. He was a burly man about six feet two, dark skinned, athletically built, and sort of confident. The likeness about him could fill a room easily, and his friendly appearance gave him an air of relatability.
"Oh, ha, pardon me. I’m just anxious." Stella replied as she replaced the glass and placed her hands on her thighs.
"Care to dance?" He asked in a sultry voice that could’ve caused her insides to tumble – if it did not belong to someone else.
"Oh goodness, no, I am no expert when it comes to things of such." She exclaimed nervously, flailing her hands slightly and then replacing them once again.
"It does not matter when one already commands the room with just her appearance – you are the most stunning woman in this entire room."
