Chapter 193: Sent away
Rhys leaned against the hood of his car, feeling as if his feet were glued to the ground. He stared nervously at the gate of Beatrix’s mansion and raked his hands through his hair.
It had taken him days to find out where she was staying. He had to ask her best friend Stella if she knew where Beatrix was.
She didn’t make it easier for him though. He had to go there every day for almost a week now before she had given up and told him where she was.
It seems his little mouse wanted to hide from him. He couldn’t blame her though, he had been a jerk. A very stupid jerk.
He could feel his heart racing, palms sweating, and hands trembling. He remembered Damien’s advice, to try and not give up.
Despite feeling scared, he took a slow step towards the front door, determined to stop being afraid and try. He hadn’t planned what to say, but he was going to improvise once he got inside.
As he approached the gate, he was stopped by two stern-looking security guards who stood in front of the entrance.
They both wore dark uniforms and had earpieces in their ears, suggesting they were part of a security detail.
As Rhys approached, his heart pounding with a mix of trepidation and hope, he found his path abruptly blocked by one of the guards, a burly figure with a stern countenance. The guard raised a hand, halting Rhys’s progress and casting a scrutinizing gaze upon him.
