Chapter 25: The Fright
Beatrix opened her mouth to speak but it remained soundless with no words coming out. She shook her head in reply.
She felt him cupping her face in his large hands as she tried to gasp for air.
"Hey, open your eyes. Look at me." He whispered softly.
Beatrix slowly opened her eyes and peered into his eyes looking for comfort.
"It’s okay, I’m right here. There is nothing to be afraid of."
Beatrix grabbed his forearms as the plane ascended into the sky. She tried to look out the window, but Damien held her face firmly in place and stroked her cheeks with his thumbs, keeping her from doing so.
Her heart slammed in her chest when there was a sudden change in pressure and she gripped Damien’s hand even tighter as he took hold of one of the armrests in order to steady himself.
Suddenly, the jet came to a halting stop before the engines repowered, roaring against the wind.Within a couple of seconds, the flight accelerated to
full speed, treading through the wind before slowly lifting off the ground.
And all the while, Damien’s eyes remained on
her until she finally calmed down her beating heart.
