Chapter 511: The Final Piece of the Puzzle
It didn’t feel like fire. It didn’t feel like thunder or divine revelation. There were no golden beams of light. No crackling magic. No voices from the heavens whispering that I was finally complete.
But that moment, when our bodies were connected as one. When Gluttony’s soul shard settled into me, it felt like I could finally breathe.
When you live with something so long, you tend to forget about it. If you are always in pain, after a while, you learn to ignore it. I never understood just how incomplete I was until I was finally whole.
Thanks to Beau, the final piece of the puzzle had slipped into place, and after 11,000 years, my soul was complete.
The bonus was that I didn’t even have to kill him for it to happen. Out of all the options that I had been given; remaining crazy, forcefully taking back his shard, merging our souls together, and everyone dying in a grand reset... I was glad that he offered up that piece of himself to me.
’Congrats’ whispered the female voice in my head. My voice in my head. ’How does it feel to no longer be crazy.’
’It sucks,’ I grumbled, making sure that I kept my mouth shut so as not to wake up Beau. ’Can I split my soul back up again? Cause that part was fun.’
The voice... my voice... chuckled. ’Crazy is a state of mind,’ she continued, and I felt the warmth of reassurance coming off the voice. ’You can be as crazy as you want to be. Just because you are whole, doesn’t mean that you can’t still have fun. You’re balance. Chaos is a given.’
Ever so softly, I snorted in agreement.
