Chapter 458: Dominion’s Rise
The centipede’s tail came down like a guillotine, and Bishop moved so fast that it was almost impossible to keep up with him.
Lightning crackled in the air around him as he slid to the side, the tail striking the ground with a deafening boom. Cracks spiderwebbed across the earth where he’d stood just a breath before as chunks of concrete flew up into the sky.
Pissed that it had missed, the centipede lunged again, its mandibles wide. Bishop caught one of them with his bare hand and held on to it.
With his face twisted into a sneer, Bishop caught the other one in his other hand. Electricity danced up his arms before it seared into the bug’s head. The centipede shrieked, trying to get away, but not before Bishop let loose a pulse of energy that completely destroyed the creature’s right eye with a wet pop.
"You picked the wrong goddamn Sanctuary," Bishop snarled, his hands still gripping the outer mandibles.
Above, the demons watched in eerie silence. They knew this wasn’t their fight. This wasn’t a battle. This was a general’s declaration. If he expected the demons to fall in line as easily as the humans had, the ex-angel was in for a rude surprise.
Demons only followed those who could prove they were stronger than them. If Bishop couldn’t win this war by himself, he wasn’t worthy of creating his own army.
This was nothing short of a claiming.
The centipede shrieked again, this time twisting into a semi-circle, forcing Bishop to let go. Regrouping, the centipede king delivered its next blow. Its tail and head coming for Bishop from both sides as it tried to trap him in every way.
Moving even faster than the bug, Bishop ducked under the head, flipped up off a shattered slab of metal, and landed on the beast’s back, right behind its head.
The creature bucked wildly, smashing into buildings and trees as it tried to shake him loose. But Bishop dug his claws into its armor. Lightning surged from his body with every heartbeat.
