Chapter 418: What I Needed
Luca stared out of the window of the lead jeep as it rumbled down the uneven road. Alicia sat in the back seat, going through all the paperwork and occasionally looking over her shoulder at all the supplies in the trunk.
All eleven vehicles were filled to the brim, and it still wasn’t enough for everything at the homestead. It was actually impressive how well the original owners had managed to preserve everything. Pity that they had worked so hard for when the end came, and yet they still died.
Alex, the driver, looked over at him, his eyes narrowing at the side of Luca’s head, but the other man just ignored him. He had enough to deal with without the petty jealousy of the human.
Human?
Since when did he start calling people humans? Shaking his head, he pushed through the pain, trying to remember what he had forgotten.
"I really thought you would be stronger," sneered Alex, finally breaking the silence. "You know, with the way that Alicia was talking about you, you should have been able to take even more supplies. Now we are going to have to go back for a third trip."
"Says the man that couldn’t even bring anything back the first time around," mused Alicia, not bothering to look at her lover. Now that Luca was completely under her control, she didn’t need to worry about the inconsequential people.
Luca alone was worth more than half the base and Sanctuary combined.
Alex’s eyes went wide, but he was smart enough to keep his mouth shut. If he wanted to stay at New Dawn, he needed to fall in line. What happened to Bishop was a warning for anyone who was smart.
