Be Careful What You Wish For: A Zombie Apocalypse

Chapter 365: Humans Never Change

Stepping forward, the moss turned a bit squishy, like it was covering something more than just solid earth. The stench of rot and decomposition drifted up, only to be pushed aside by the flower in my hand.

It was almost as if the flower was taking offense at the stench for reaching me.

"Thank you," I hummed, stroking the smooth, silky petals. "But I don’t mind the smell of decay."

The flower nodded happily even as Beau wrinkled his nose in disgust. "You might not, but it’s definitely not my favorite," grumbled the Sin as he looked around. "But I don’t see any bones."

"Bones?" I repeated, perking up a bit.

"It should take upward of 20 years for the human skeleton to completely decompose. Even in these types of conditions, it should still take more than four years. But there is nothing. Not a single bone, no flesh, and yet the stench of death still lingers," muttered Beau, crouching down to poke at the moss.

Right under his finger, where he was poking at the moss, a flower appeared, the center of it looking like a little head with sharp teeth. Before Beau could react, the flower lunged upward, biting the tip of his finger. Startled, Beau jumped back, retreating to the safety of everyone else.

However, wherever his blood dropped to the ground, more and more emerged until the entire area around us was covered in red and purple snapping flowers.

"Interesting," chuckled Chang Xuefeng. "Could they have consumed the people around them? Or those poor souls who fell to the ground when they died?"
