Chapter 278: What I Seek
The front door had just closed, and Ronan had made it as far as the stairs when a knock came from the door again.
"I’m popular today," I chuckled as I tapped Ronan to put me down. However, the man holding me was completely stiff, as if he was scared of something. "Ronan?" I asked, confused. Looking over my shoulder, I saw that the rest of my men were tense, like they were preparing for a battle.
"Put me down," I sighed, but Ronan only shook his head and held me tighter.
"No," he stated, his voice harsh from just the one word. "Chang Xuefeng, get ridda de visitor."
"No," I snapped. Something inside of me was being pulled toward the door like it was something special just for me. "Put me down so I can answer the door."
"Pudding Pop," sighed Beau as he forced a smile on his face. "I think we should listen to the demon right now. Whatever is on the other side of the door reeks of death and blood. Let the scary Angel of Death deal with it, and you can go take a nap. Sounds good?"
Shaking my head, I flung myself out of Ronan’s arms before landing on my feet. "No," I stated. "I am going to answer the door. If you don’t like it, I suggest you watch my back, but I will answer that door."
I had no idea what the guys were feeling, and normally, I wouldn’t dismiss their feelings in the matter because I trusted their instincts more than I did my own. But in this case, everything inside of me demanded that I open the door.
So I did. "Can I help you?" I asked, tilting my head way back to look up at the giant of a man. The sun was shining behind him, so I couldn’t really make out any features, but I felt every muscle in my body relax. "Are you here to make a wish?"
