Chapter 219: You Ain’t Gods
The sun was setting, throwing shadows all over the road leading straight to where Hattie was. Deserted buildings lined the road on both sides as abandoned cars were left where they stopped working.
The five Sins weaved around them like they were nothing as they focused, single-mindedly, on the feeling inside their chests. This wasn’t the first time they had been in the middle of one of the bigger towns surrounding City O, but for the most part, they never bothered with them.
The first thing that most people did when the apocalypse hit was to abandon their homes and businesses, trying to find a ’safer place to be’. The joke was on them since there was no safe place left in the world.
The sound of Désiré hitting one of the hanging street signs startled Luca from his thoughts as it echoed against the buildings.
"Was that really necessary?" sneered Wrath as he looked over his shoulder.
"Necessary?" mused Lust, cocking his head to the side. "No. But I figured I might as well make things more fun. After all, we are all playing a game right now, aren’t we? There is no harm in ringing the dinner bell that we were all ignoring."
"Shut up," stated Greed calmly as he took in a breath. "This is a pointless waste of time, time that we could be spending with Hattie."
"Potato, Potatoe," shrugged Lust, not at all concerned. "We all know that only one of us is getting the girl, and considering who I am, none of you are a contender. Might as well enjoy this whole brotherly bonding thing while we can."
Closing his eyes, Greed tilted his head a fraction to the side as the cracking sound of a bullet being shot could be heard. The heat from the bullet as it passed his cheek didn’t bother him a bit, and the projectile itself ended up buried in the skeleton of a car in front of him.
