Chapter 209: What I Wanted And Needed
Letting out a long sigh, I let myself grow as my hair tumbled out of the pigtails I kept them in. Instead of the dress that I usually wore, I changed into the last dress that I had seen Luci in... the black one with the thigh-high split and the sleeve down one arm.
I didn’t have her tattoos; instead, I showed off my scars and my staples, a testament to the harsh life I have lived up to this point. Before, when I didn’t understand what was going on, I hated those scars... I saw them as a weakness as to what I had allowed others to do to me.
But I was older now... or at least I understood things better.
Scars weren’t a sign of weakness but of strength.
A lot of people wouldn’t be able to survive what I had survived, and now I was wearing my scars like trophies, including the one that bisected my face.
No longer was Bishop looking at the human version of myself, but the person I was inside... Lucifer.
"You are not dumb, Mathis Duhon," I announced, never breaking my eyes away from the angel in front of me. "If you want to keep living, forget everything about this place and pray that I never see you again. The next time your path crosses mine, I will kill you... and no threat of war will stop me."
Now that I was at the same height as the woman in Bishop’s arms, I studied her as well. "Treat your daughter well," I announced. "Don’t corrupt her like you are trying to do, or I will rip off that mask you are wearing and show everyone your true face."
I had assumed that it was only the humans who had been caught outside when the demon seed rained down on Earth, but I could see the flutter of a purple seed as it infected her heart. It was interesting that she was strong enough to keep it at bay for so long...
