Be Careful What You Wish For: A Zombie Apocalypse

Chapter 186: Close-Minded

"Where do you want to go?" asked Tank, looking at me like I was the only person in the world. "We should have a game plan in mind before the demons come. That way, we aren’t panicking."

His words made sense, but I also didn’t really know the answer. Where should I go? The Legislation Compound was out of the question, and I had the feeling Luci didn’t want me to be around anyone whose loyalty couldn’t be guaranteed.

That meant Elizabeth’s house, or...

"The Dragon’s Lair," I announced, not bothering to look at Dante to see if it was okay that I take over his place. However, it was the first place I ever remember feeling safe.

Well, right up until Dante was betrayed, his crazy ex tried to have me killed, and his other ex threw me over a fence for zombies to munch on. But yeah, everything else about it was amazing!

"I cleaned it out as best I could, hoping that that would be your choice," nodded Tank before looking at Dante. "Dante gave me free rein. He really missed you, too, and wanted to offer you a safe place for when you came back."

I dipped my head so that Tank couldn’t see me smiling. He was being a good wingman for Dante, and I really couldn’t say anything about it. "And if I need you to get rid of all humans?" I asked, cocking my head to the side. "I know those are your men... your family..."

"You are my family," replied Tank with a shake of his head. "You are the only one who matters. If you don’t want humans around, then we’ll get rid of them, simple as that."

"It also makes sense," agreed Dante, picking up where Tank let off. "After everything that happened before and the chance of demons possessing more humans... I just don’t know how we will defend our walls when it comes to us being attacked."
