Chapter 98: For Now
In a cloud of smoke, Pride appeared in front of Envy. He was about to demand why he had been summoned, but then he saw Greed.
"What the hell happened here?" Pride growled, dropping to his knees to add his energy to his brother’s. Sending out a message for the remaining Sins, Pride concentrated on healing Greed.
"Humans tried to kill Little Bit," gasped Greed. The energy pouring into him was making it easier to breathe, but that was about it. His skin still felt too tight as he tried to move, and the crippling pain that resulted from the movement forced him to stop. "I used the souls to send her away. If they cannot protect her..."
"Then they are of no use to us," agreed Sloth as he appeared in the throne room. Adding his energy to the others, he let out a low growl. "Their entire reason for living was to protect Cher, and if they can’t do that..."
"First Alicia, now Brittney," sneered Lust, adding his power. "Are the men on Earth really that weak that they can’t control the women around them?"
"I don’t think it is a matter of strength or weakness," pointing out Gluttony. "I think this is more a testament of how far the humans have fallen."
"Either way," sneered Pride. "Our meat sacks need to step up. There cannot be a third time."

"I am not happy," growled Envy inside of Salvatore’s head. The six of them were out shoveling the base, going stir-crazy after having been trapped in their room for so long. They hadn’t even spoken a word to René and Alicia in weeks.
