Chapter 18: A Story To Be Told
Chapter 18
He stood there in shock, watching her as she mouthed those very words. He was taking a moment to process everything she had said while trying hard to believe the fact that he had always been a pawn in the middle of everything he had experienced.
"If Enma is the god of death, then who are the other gods?" He asked, following behind her.
"They are simply beings of a higher plain of existence compared to the average person. They managed to achieve omnipotence at some point and are now hailed as gods by the people." She said, slowly opening the door to a room.
She walked in and quickly locked it immediately after he walked in, before quickly walking to a bookshelf by the end of the room. There were only a few number of books placed in it, neat and seemingly untouched.
She quickly reached out and brought out the books before walking back to where Megumi was seated. Slowly, she placed the book right before him and proceeded to then sit next to him.
"The book contains scriptures on histories of this place, although some of it I'm not yet sure of. Feel free to go home with it, and make sure you bring your sister along the next time you come here." She said, turning her gaze toward him.
All he gave her was a side eye before turning back to the book on the table in front of him. Slowly, he reached toward it, flipping over the first page and carefully began reading through each line of text.
It was nothing but knowledge of everything she currently knew about the place, and from the looks of it, someone most likely told her about it. They matched a bit too perfectly for bits of information she could have gotten at different points in time.
