Chapter 149: Today’s the Day
Arthur was sleeping peacefully and blissfully under the soft covers of his bed, lost in dreams that were mercifully free from the nightmares that had plagued him recently. The morning light filtered gently through his curtains, casting warm patterns across his relaxed features. For once, his face held no tension, no worry lines creased his brow, and his breathing was deep and even.
Then, without warning, his entire body tensed and began to convulse desperately.
The peaceful moment shattered like glass as Arthur’s muscles seized involuntarily. His eyes shot open in pure panic, pupils dilated with shock and confusion. His teeth clenched together forcefully, the sound audible in the sudden silence of his room. His entire body vibrated with uncontrolled spasms, as if electricity was coursing through his nervous system.
’What... the... hell,’ Arthur’s mind struggled to form coherent thoughts through the overwhelming sensation that had hijacked his body.
The strange episode continued for what felt like an eternity but was probably only a few more seconds. Then, as abruptly as it had begun, peace returned. The violent sensations left his body all at once, like a switch being flipped. His muscles relaxed so suddenly that he felt boneless, his limbs heavy and unresponsive.
Arthur rolled over heavily and let his head hang off the edge of his bed, his dark hair falling in disheveled strands as he desperately tried to catch his breath. His chest rose and fell in rapid, shallow movements as his body attempted to recover from whatever had just happened to him.
It was in those moments of gasping recovery that realization dawned on him. The pieces clicked together with devastating clarity, and soon anger filled him like molten metal poured into a mold. His face contorted with rage as understanding replaced confusion.
Arthur lunged upward with surprising speed and spun around to face the other side of his bed, his eyes blazing with fury.
"Are you insane!!" he yelled, his voice hoarse from sleep but carrying the full weight of his indignation.
