Chapter 293: Offering an Explanation
At 10:05, Ella finally walked onto the stage, flanked by two bodyguards. Eric, dressed formally as well, held her hand and accompanied her to the front of the stage.
Today, Ella was wearing a formal black business suit, with her hair neatly tied up. Even though she was only a college freshman, her demeanor and appearance resembled that of a powerful businesswoman who had been navigating the corporate world for over a decade.
The crowd was secretly amazed. They had previously thought Ella was out of Eric’s league, but now, seeing them together, they realized how well-matched they appeared.
Ella and Eric sat down, with the bodyguards stationed in rows, one in front and one behind them, prepared for any unexpected incidents.
Ella scanned the room briefly and immediately noticed Mason standing not far away, as well as a surprising sight of Henry.
Of course, there were other friends present to support her—Amelia, Richard, and others—but there was no sign of Chloe.
Thinking of her long-time friend, Ella’s eyes dimmed slightly.
As her gaze shifted, she spotted Leah standing outside the hall doors, smirking at her with a cold, mocking look.
Heh.
Leah’s presence confirmed that the people from Carter Group had come to watch her stumble.
If Leah was here, Sean must be as well, though he hadn’t shown himself yet. Ella guessed that he was waiting for the moment she broke down in tears and apologized to make his dramatic entrance. In the eyes of the Carter Group, perhaps an apology was the only tool she had left. How ridiculous.
