Chapter 157. Truth
After telling Leo about Ashtera, the person who was after Rin, and her obsession him, Erin leaned back on the couch in the tense dorm room, her violet eyes staring at him.
Leo’s hands were shaking, and the coffee cup he was holding was trembling and rippling. His heart pounded, a deep pain in his chest, reminding him of Chloe’s death from his Earth days.
With a loud clink, he placed the cup on the table, breaking the oppressive silence. His legs were unsteady as he stood, and his red eyes were devoid of both fear and resolve.
Erin’s voice was quick and sharp. "You’re going to her now, aren’t you?"
Leo met her gaze, his eyes raw, voice breaking with feeling. "I have to."
Erin jumped up, her voice loud, frustration spilling out. "That’s why we kept this from you!" she snapped, her violet eyes flashing. "You’re a killer, Reo, but you let your heart rule you. It cost you Chloe, and now you’re walking into the same trap!"
Leo’s voice was weak and desperate as his mouth opened. "But I can’t just—"
"Go, then!" Erin interrupted, her yell echoing in the small room. "I won’t stop you, but don’t expect me to pull your ass out every time Ashtera comes for you!" She stormed to the door, muttering under her breath.
Liana, waiting outside, flinched as Erin rushed past. Erin paused, her voice low and warning. "Look after him, Liana," she said, before walking down the hallway, her steps fading into the quiet.
