Chapter 150. Rin vs Berend (aftermath)
Erin ran through the arena’s hallways, her boots pounding the stone floor, her breath quick and uneven. Fear, worry, and anger twisted in her chest—she’d just arrived at the Academy and learned Rin was fighting a gold-class giant. She burst onto the stands, grabbing the iron railing so hard.
Her violet eyes widened in surprise as she looked over the battlefield below. With his uniform torn and his warhammer lodged in the ground, Berend knelt in the dirt and coughed up blood. His eyes were still burning with pride, but his head was spinning and his vision was blurry from losing so much blood.
Rin lay crumpled, her uniform torn, blood accumulating beneath her across the ripped arena. She tried to stand, her body trembling, her fingers twitching, a faint cough breaking the silence, blood flecking the dirt.
The silence in the crowd broke into whispers of surprise. How could a bronze-class nobody push a gold-class star this far?
With wide eyes, a boy of the silver class muttered, "She’s not human."
"No bronze should make a gold bleed like that."
Gold, silver, and bronze all shouted for Rin’s unyielding spirit as the applause burst forth, overcoming class boundaries.
"Valarune! Their voices shook the stands as they exclaimed, "Valarune!"
Astrid rises to her feet in Elara’s group, her fists clenched. "How in the hell is she doing this?" she yelled, her voice piercing with annoyance and her typical confidence faltering.
As the crowd chanted Rin’s name, Berend’s pride gave way to anger. He had been humiliated in public by a bronze. He stood with blood dripping from his chin, his face twisted, his eyes burning.
He grabbed his warhammer, its faint golden glow flickering like a dying candle, and roared, "You bitch!" Rin staggered on unsteady legs, her staff useless in the dirt, her dazed eyes barely perceiving the danger as he charged at her.
