The Useless Prince Is A Gangster

Chapter 110. Bad habit

"You want me to tell you why I hunted those bank robbers?"

Reo Carter leaned back at the shiny wooden dining table in his fancy high-rise apartment, the late afternoon sun making his black hair gleam.

Across from him sat Chloe, her green eyes shining with amusement and boldness, a sly smile on her lips. Her fingers rested near a small voice recorder, its red light blinking. Reo’s crimson eyes narrowed, suspicion on his face as he crossed his arms. "You’re with the cops, aren’t you?" His voice was low and sharp. "Should’ve guessed when you didn’t flinch after I told you who I am."

Chloe’s smile grew, her annoyance playful as she leaned in, pinching his cheeks like he was a kid. "Oh, Reo, don’t flatter yourself. I’m a criminal psychologist—not a fangirl. I study monsters like you." Her voice was daring, her eyes locked on his, not backing down.

Reo grabbed her wrists, holding them gently but firmly, staring at her eyes. "Then why are you in relation with your test subject?" His tone was calm but intense, searching for lies.

She pulled back, laughing softly, a real spark in her eyes. "Because, Reo, you pull me in. I can’t help it." Her words were honest, open, stirring something in Reo’s guarded heart.

He sighed, running a hand through his hair, muttering, "What kind of woman are you?" Years in the underworld made his instincts sharp, and they told him Chloe meant no harm, it’s just a fearless curiosity that hooked him, a light in his dark world.

He grabbed a cigarette from the pack on the table, lit it with a quick flick, and blew out smoke, eyes fixed on her. "Fine. You want the truth? I’ll give it. The cops can’t touch me even with a recorder."

Chloe’s smile sharpened, and she tapped the recorder on, leaning closer, voice soft but cutting. "Why’d you hunt those bank robbers two years ago? You weren’t connected to them."
