Chapter 93. Alliance
Brakk shaking with fear at Leo’s cold gaze, his plan to murder Leo in secret without telling the Wolves now a broken dream. He had wanted to take the glory and advance in the guild, but his greed had brought him directly into a trap.
Leo stands, the smirk on his face is cold, and out of his shadow, two wraiths formed, dark, ghostly beings with glowing purple eyes, their forms twisting like living smoke. Brakk’s breath stopped, fear gripping him, and even Liana froze, her eyes wide at the otherworldly beings.
Nimbus, reverting to his cat form, stepped back with a low growl, his purple eyes fixed on Brakk. The wraiths seized Brakk’s arms, forcing him to his knees with relentless strength, their grip unyielding.
Leo crouched to Brakk’s level, one wraith yanking Brakk’s hair to tilt his face up, ensuring he met Leo’s gaze. Leo’s voice was a low, chilling murmur. "Why...., what..., who.....forget that questions. Let’s have a chat."
Brakk’s voice quivered, desperate. "Just... let me go!" But the wraiths tightened their hold, twisting his arms with deliberate slowness, making a ragged scream from him.
Leo laughed, dripping with mockery. "You picked a nice, quiet spot, didn’t you? No one’s coming to pull you out of this. Watched me for four days, studied my fights, cooked up your little counter-plan." He leaned closer, his eyes glinting with menace. "Problem is, your plan’s garbage."
Brakk’s breaths were shallow, sweat and blood mingling on his pale face. "I... I didn’t mean—"
Leo cut him off. "That’s why I baited you out today. Thought you’d be smarter, but you’re dumber than a rat." His smirk turned cruel. "You really think Liana’s reckless enough to chase a thief and leave me exposed?" He nodded to the wraiths, who dug their claws into Brakk’s shoulders, piercing skin, while another twisted his wrist, the bone cracking sharply. Brakk’s screams grew hoarse, his body shuddering in pain.
Nimbus, now a normal black cat, padded to Liana, brushing against her ankle with a soft purr. Liana flinched, still shocked by his panther form, but held her ground, her eyes locked on the scene. Leo circled Brakk slowly, his tone casual. "Could’ve come for you myself, but I wanted my coin pouch back. I’m greedy, you know."
