Chapter 219: Operation Wolf Slayer. (Part 07)
Though the floor gates were sealed airtight, Shade was still able to notice that something was off about the other side. Kite took it upon himself to scout ahead first, and when he warned the other two to be careful, they upped their guard in preparation to face some danger, but what awaited them differed from their expectations.
The loud ringing reached their ears before they caught sight of the thick fog filling the corridor. A red glow caught their attention next, and they noticed several more farther away. Recognizing it as the light from emergency flares, the cloaked trio understood why water was raining from the ceiling, but that did little to clear their confusion.
"No good, leader." Shade said. "I can’t see anything."
The thick fog blocking their sight couldn’t possibly be natural. It filled the entire corridor and was thick enough to mess with the light from the chandeliers and other less inconspicuous sources scattered around. Without proper lighting, the shadows cast by objects and people lost their sharpness, growing far too blurry in the mind of someone with the power to perceive their shape.
"This is... troublesome..."
As he stared into the white expanse stretching before them, Raven found himself reconsidering their plans. They had yet to recover from the confusion caused by the enemy’s ability to move between floors, and now they were faced with a new power, one that couldn’t be any different.
"A water-based ability..." He muttered.
The idea that their target had accomplices sounded all the more logical.
"Should we... should we look for a different path?" Kite asked, a hint of nervousness making it to his voice.
