Chapter 459 - 16: Several Counterfeit Bills (Part 2)
"This time I’ve seen it clearly, completely intact," Xuerou slowed her actions and shook the brand-new banknote, making the "shara" sound of paper money, "See it clearly."
The tricycle driver smirked, still such a simpleton, fooled twice and yet still falling for it, if not taking down such a plump sheep then when.
He took over the banknote, pretending to inspect it, secretly slipping out a fake hundred-yuan note from between his fingers, just about to exchange it, when "ouch", he was kicked out of the door.
Real and fake money all fell to the ground, knowing trouble had ensued, the driver scrambled up on his legs.
He had barely gotten up when he took another kick in the back, his hand was twisted by someone. The tricycle driver turned to curse back but was fiercely slapped by Zhang Yiyi who had just realized what happened.
"I knew it, turns out to be a swindler. Cheating us out of two hundred, really ruthless," unlucky for the driver who thought he encountered three fat sheeps only for them to be three fierce wolves.
"Xuerou, let’s call the police," Zhang Yiyi took back the money, infuriated to see a thick stack of counterfeit and damaged RMB prepared in the driver’s small pouch. The tricks they encountered today, must be old ones, such people, if not properly punished, will turn around and harm others.
"You fear-death outsiders, I tell you, I know people at the police station, sending there is also in vain. If you dare, don’t run away, if I see you again around Chengde, you’re in for it, oh wow, murder," the tricycle driver yelled towards Luori Apartment, grabbing his own little girl, looking frail but with surprising strength, not sure where she punched just now, causing him to cry out in pain.
"What are you doing here? Let go of him," a uniformed security guard rushed out from the entrance of Luori Family Apartment, seeing what happened, instead of scolding the fraudster on the ground, he started yelling at Xiao Xian and the others.
Xuerou detected from the security guard and the driver on the ground’s accents, both locals, guessed that when the swindler was cheating at the door earlier, the security in the security room must have seen, these people are probably partners in crime.
The security guard and the driver on the ground exchanged a glance, seeing Xiao Xian and the others still not letting go, he pulled out the baton on his body about to swing.
"Stop," Xuerou stood in front, "This man on the ground is a swindler, cheated us out of two hundred dollars, and a stack of counterfeit bills was found on him."
"Nonsense, all the disabled tricycle drivers in this area are honest people, who would cheat your money. I only see you bullying someone disabled with your numbers," the security pointed at the driver’s leg, the driver on the ground immediately started crying out in pain.
"We bullied someone?" Zhang Yiyi raised her hand, pointed towards the entrance of the complex, a camera facing this side of the street, "Pull up the video, see who is the swindler."
"You think just because you say so we’ll do it, who do you think you are? You get to Summer Villa and think you are royalty? I’m telling you, that camera has been broken for a long time," the security guard retorted loudly, pushing back Xuerou’s words.
"What’s all this noise about?" Another security sitting inside the security room hearing the loud commotion outside, came out. Seeing the driver on the ground crying out in pain, instantly recognized him as a wandering swindler. Looking at the three well-dressed and well-spoken female tourists, he could guess most of the situation.
"Comrade, we are staying at the Luori Family Apartment, this person bullied us, cheated our money." Xuerou pulled out a slip of paper noting their check-in date and which apartment they were staying in.
"Let go of him first," the older security guard who came out of the room, spoke in a standard North-Eastern accent.
Xiao Xian glanced at the baton on the security’s waist, then let go of the person. The driver scrambled back to his tricycle, limping as he left, seemingly injured.
The older security looked at Xiao Xian and the others, then at the tricycle driver’s behavior, having some doubts about the origins of the three.
Typically, outsiders who got scammed would just suffer in silence. These three, young and still students, the one who fought back, reacted quickly, and was proficient, apparently skilled.
"Captain, look..." The security that came out earlier whispered a few words to the older one.
"Alright, those who can afford to stay in this complex, obviously have some connections. Besides, just three young girls daring to wander around without elder company, their background can’t be weak, tell those drivers to keep in line." The older security pondered and then made a decision. The security then ceased and went to talk to the tricycle driver.
The tricycle driver peeked out, glaring fiercely at Xiao Xian and the others.
"Let it go, they are just kids, bit impulsive. Coming out to travel, should also understand the local customs, don’t take things too far," the captain ordered the tricycle driver to return all the money to Xiao Xian and her friends, not even mentioning the thirty yuan fare, and pointed towards the entrance of the complex, signaling them to go inside.
Zhang Yiyi was still upset, watching the tricycle driver speed away, constantly grumbling. Pushed by Zeng Xuerou, she headed inside.
Xiao Xian followed behind the two, after a few steps, looked back, the two security guards had already entered the security room.
