Chapter 285 - 271: The Miracle of Life
All the conspiracies and tricks came down to the use of force, and ultimately, it was all about strength.
The ambulance wasn’t exactly fast, but it could still reach speeds of seventy to eighty kilometers per hour. In the airport, it seemed to zigzag like a headless fly, ramming into everything in its path, heading straight for the wall. But in the end, it slowed down in front of the perimeter wall. It didn’t stop, just took the corner at a relatively slow speed.
Heading towards the gate, Gao Yi suddenly leaped from the rear of the ambulance and then, as it accelerated away, he sprinted a few steps and vaulted right on top of the wall.
The wall wasn’t very high, less than three meters, at most two and a half or so, a height that posed no challenge to Gao Yi.
Even the Iron Wire atop the wall was somewhat tricky, but not when it was electrified, which would have been intimidating. However, there was a shortage of electricity throughout Libya, with frequent power cuts at the airport—it was unlikely they would waste precious power on the Iron Wire.
Gao Yi chose a place near the middle of the wall, where an iron pillar supported the wire. He grabbed the top of the wall with one hand, his left shoulder giving a painful jolt, but it was strong enough to help his right hand catch the triangular iron brace supporting the wire. Then he leaped up, one-handedly holding the top of the triangle iron, and easily flew over.
The landing was on sandy soil.
Looking along the perimeter wall, one could directly see the machine gun emplacements outside the airport exit.
The security at the airport gates was oriented to face outward, not inside. Thus, there was a machine gun emplacement on each side of the gate, placed on either side of the entrance, with iron wire barricades in the center. Further outside were barriers set up to slow vehicles down, forcing them to pass at low speeds through an S-shaped route.
Unprotected on the inside, the biggest advantage was that Gao Yi and his group had fought inside the airport for so long, stirring up trouble for quite a while, that the machine guns positioned at the gates couldn’t open fire on the unobstructed ambulance.
