Chapter 1668: Part 5: Night Cell Tower
United City (Main Post)
Inside the night cell tower, the blonde-haired woman looked toward the young man. Her eyes flashed with madness.
Boom!
She raised her right hand. The next second, golden lightning power released from her hand. It traveled in a straight line.
The golden lightning bolts went charging toward the target.
Swoosh!
On the other hand, I was taken aback by her sudden attack. Just as the golden lightning bolts were about to strike me, I dodged sideways. It was easy to predict.
Boom!
When the lightning attack landed on the ground, it caused a massive roar. The shockwave spread across the room.
The ancient spirit was observing silently. It believed that the young man could easily take down the female criminal, though it still felt that the golden lightning power was threatening.
However, the young man possessed more than one inherited power. The ancient spirit grew excited.
The blonde-haired woman was surprised. She didn’t expect the target to evade her attack.
Boom!
She continued firing at the young warrior one bolt after another. The golden lightning surged straight toward the young human.
Swoosh!
My perception remained sharp. I anticipated the next attacks right away. Not only that, I could track the trajectory of the lightning strikes.
I tried to evade the assault without relying on any movement techniques. When the golden bolts reached me, I side-stepped to dodge them. The attacks crashed into the floor behind me.
Boom!
They set off an explosion upon contact, but I didn’t have time to lose focus. I evaded the barrage that followed. I could feel the sheer heat and force of the golden lightning at close quarters.
If it were to hit my body directly, it would cause serious injuries.
Swoosh!
Next, I tried to maintain my distance. I spotted the blonde-haired woman rushing toward me.
So far, she had only been testing me. If she were to combine her speed with concentrated lightning attacks, it could become lethal.
The blonde-haired woman closed the gap between us in a couple of seconds, cloaking her right fist in golden lightning power.
She executed a fist technique and punched forward.
Boom!
Suddenly, a sense of crisis washed over me. Her golden lightning was many times stronger than Elder Austin’s.
I had no time left to evade; her attack was right in front of me.
Boom!
Right then, I drew upon my dark purple lightning and coated my fist in crackling bolts. The blonde-haired woman looked visibly shocked.
Boom!
In a flash, both of our fists collided. The dark purple lightning surged forth, clashing against the Red Mark Level lightning.
Boom!
A detonation occurred. The impact slammed hard into both of us. We were forced backward, and a stray strand of golden lightning lashed across my body.
It carried an extremely high temperature and terrifying force. If the full brunt of the attack had landed on me, it would have caused catastrophic damage.
The shockwave rolled across the room.
Swoosh!
The blonde-haired woman regained her balance, her gaze firmly locked onto the young man before her.
She had not expected the young warrior to be a fellow lightning user. The revelation fueled her madness even further; she wanted to feel the thrill of slaying a warrior who commanded the same element.
"Who are you?" she demanded.
Hearing her question, I remained silent, quietly circulating lightning power throughout my body.
It wasn’t every day that one got to fight a human warrior to the death—especially another lightning user. I resolved to fight her using only my lightning element first.
"You won’t answer me? Then I’ll make you answer," she uttered before executing a movement technique.
Swoosh!
Her body blurred in a zigzag pattern. She had already pushed the technique to mastery—using it was as natural as breathing.
I kept my eyes fixed on her as she closed the distance in mere seconds once again.
Smash!
She threw a relentless barrage of punches. She only needed a single clean hit to critically injure a half-step Red Mark Warrior.
Boom!
Once again, I countered her assault with punches of my own.
The clash between the two opposing lightning elements triggered explosive shockwaves. Neither of us yielded ground. Soon, I was forced to use both hands to block.
Our fists repeatedly collided against the crackling golden lightning.
As time passed, I thought she might pause her assault, but her strikes only grew more ferocious.
Swoosh!
I activated my own movement technique to evade the onslaught. Her punches were faster and backed by a refined attack technique, whereas mine were an unrefined mix.
Zigzagging across the chamber, I dodged her fists and created breathing room.
Yet she pursued relentlessly, determined to land a decisive blow. I could tell she was desperate to make contact just once.
Seizing the opening, I applied my newly refined concept of a lightning layer to my fist, coating my right hand in a dense film of dark purple lightning.
Boom!
I stopped abruptly to counter her momentum, driving my right fist directly into her incoming punch. This time, I wanted to see whether she could withstand the sheer density of the dark lightning.
Boom!
Both strikes collided head-on. The dark purple lightning erupted with overwhelming destructive force, shattering the golden lightning before slamming squarely into her right hand.
Boom!
The blonde-haired woman was sent flying backward, crashing heavily onto the stone floor.
Seeing this, I halted my movement technique and stared at her.
Something felt off. Her trial had come immediately after the oval-shaped creature’s, meaning she should have been far stronger.
She was certainly more capable than the flame-type warrior, but I had expected much more.
The blonde-haired woman was still conscious. She looked down at her mangled right arm; the dark purple lightning had badly scorched her hand.
Glancing up, she registered once again that the young man before her was only a half-step Red Mark Warrior.
The mocking smile vanished from her face, replaced by pure coldness.
She rose to her feet, glared at the young man, and said, "It has been a long time since someone forced me to draw upon my inheritance power."
Hearing that, my heart sank. My suspicion was right, she hadn’t been fighting at full strength at all.
Meanwhile, I had already revealed my newly developed dark purple lightning film just to scorch her hand, and her golden lightning had absorbed most of the impact.
