Chapter 239: It was an old enemy
In the alternate dimension of Blackwake Isle, the world was engulfed in roaring flames. Deep within this inferno, massive metal factories stood stubbornly against the blaze, clinging to a harsh, desperate existence.
Atop one of these factories, a towering Diamond Golem, his entire body shimmering with a brilliant, crystalline light, stood tall and rigid. He gazed out over the endless sea of fire, his eyes filled with a heavy, weary resignation.
"Lord Thalrun!"
A Bronze Golem, his body gleaming with a dull, weathered green, scrambled up to the rooftop, his face twisted with panic. "Those damned Efreet... and the Efreet Sultan... they’re back! We’ve lost so many already—we’re barely holding on!"
Thalrun, the Diamond Golem, furrowed his brow deeply. His voice was low and steady as he spoke: "Karnak, take our people and leave this world."
Karnak’s eyes widened in shock. "Lord Thalrun!"
"That’s an order," Thalrun said coldly, his voice cutting through the chaos like a blade. "They’re after me—after the Primordial Force of the Crimson Ultimate Hero that still lingers inside me. You and the others... you’re just collateral damage. Leave. Find another plane to live in. Maybe you’ll never make it back to the Prime World, but as long as you’re alive, there’s still hope. As for me... I’m already at the end of my road."
Once, long ago, Thalrun had been a Crimson Ultimate Hero, a being of unimaginable power. But time, countless battles, and grievous wounds had worn him down. His strength had faded, and the Primordial Force within him had dwindled to a mere shadow of what it once was.
They had finally found a way to return to the Prime World—a way that would have cost Thalrun the last of his power, but he had been ready to pay that price without regret.
But fate had other plans.
Just as they were about to succeed, the Inferno Devils—creatures from another dimension—caught their scent.
