He Fang looked around upon arriving at Qin Guanglin’s place and didn’t see Qin’s Mom. She sat down on the sofa and asked Qin Guanglin.
"I have no idea. She was still having her meal when I left," Qin Guanglin went to check the kitchen and saw no one, then ran to Qin’s Mom’s bedroom door and knocked twice, "Mom, are you in there?"
There was no response.
"She probably went out... She clearly said she wanted me to bring you over, but now she’s gone out herself." He helplessly returned to the living room, turned on the TV, and said, "Sit for a while, if she’s not back by... eight-thirty, we won’t wait any longer."
He had a fair guess about what Qin’s Mom might want to talk to He Fang about. It was nothing more than to bridge the gap in their relationship, or to clarify some things she believed everyone was well aware of.

Qin Guanglin fiddled with the remote before handing it to He Fang, "Find whatever you like to watch."
"Doesn’t matter. It’s all the same," He Fang didn’t take it, and instead looked around before getting up and heading to Qin Guanglin’s bedroom.
