Chapter 31: Are you kidding me?
Lukas looked at Ed with disbelief. He was not certain he heard that right. Was this man joking or what?
"Well, I expected such a reaction from you," Ed Wade said with a chuckle, and then he went back to the round table and sat down.
Lukas was so overwhelmed with such numbers that he was taking his time to process what was happening with him.
" Lukas, my boy, you did it. This man is the vice president of the Philadelphia Phillies, and he is not joking around." Henry nudged Lukas with his shoulder to make him come back to life, as he was daydreaming.
Lukas shook his head and came to his senses. He was actually very shocked to hear such an offer, him earning a hundred million in a year was kind of impossible to even think about.
" Come here, young man, I am the field manager of the team." Terry called Lukas over to the table as well, he was second only to the general manager in the team, and he was all smiley.
Lukas shook off his initial shock and went towards the table. Henry also followed behind and sat with Lukas.
" So, you are called Lukas Martin. I am Terry. We are welcoming you with open arms in our team," Terry Francona said with a smile as soon as Lukas sat down.
" Am I really worth that much? You are going to pay 100 million for a year?" Lukas asked, he was not sure if they were joking with him.
" A year? Boy, who said about a year?" Ed Wade replied he looked at Lukas with his eyebrows frowning.
" Sir, actually he doesn't know anything about baseball at all, he does not even know how many games there are," Henry chimed in as Lukas was not getting any idea about what's going on here.
