Chapter 147: The Vengeful Elf(Part 7)
"Stay sharp, everyone! He could show up any second now, so don’t let your guards down!" Instructed Jules, as she kept her eyes peeled.
"Yeah, we can’t afford a single slip-up here, the smallest mistake could prove fatal," Added Aster, his blades drawn as he glanced around warily.
Two days had passed since Leptar’s attack, it was currently around the same time at which he’d attacked last time, so everyone who was going to fight him had gathered in the same clearing that had been used for the exhibition matches.
All the Knights who had come to Sylph were present, along with the four remaining Grand Warriors. A number of the First Stage Warriors had been tasked with protecting the Elders, while the rest were guarding the civilians, who had been evacuated to the other settlements.
Tensions were high, the air thick and heavy as the group waited for Leptar to show up, a strong breeze blowing across as dark clouds gathered overhead, a low rumbling echoed out across the sky.
"Anything yet, Raven?" Inquired Aster warily.
"No, I’ve sharpened my senses to their absolute limit, but I’m not picking anything up so far-...hm? His scent! I just caught a whiff of it...but I can’t tell which direction it’s coming from!" Responded Raven, focusing on his sense of smell as his gaze darted about.
"Seems he’s here. He must be keeping his distance, looking for an opening to strike," Surmised Zesta, a cold mist flowing out around his body as he held his sword defensively.
"Come on, hurry up and show yourself...," Muttered Wielle anxiously, the breeze picking up as the leaves on the surrounding trees rustled loudly.
"Even if he’s out of my usual range, this breeze would carry his scent...the fact that I’m not picking it up means that he must be upwind!" Realized Raven, before swiftly turning his attention in the direction the wind was blowing towards, the others following suit.
Another rumble echoed out across the sky, before a rapid blur suddenly launched above the trees in the distance from the direction they were facing, everyone’s gaze lifting up as the blur zipped up into the air and came barreling towards them.
