Bastard Homunculus: Reborn in the Corpse Pit

Chapter 68: Return of the Undead King(Part 5)

As the Undead King approached her, Jules shakily raised her right hand and unleashed a sharp burst of flames, sending him stumbling back as she scorched the front of his body, before firing out jets of flames from the soles of her feet to fly up.

She balanced her body upright as she hovered in the air, floating above the Miasma flowing over the area, while the Undead King stared up at her in amusement.

"Th-there’s...there’s no way you can keep regenerating indefinitely. I just...I just need to keep damaging you until you run out of Mana and-...," She began with a grimace, her vision blurring thanks to the effects of the Miasma debilitating her.

"Yeah, I’m going to stop you right there, that isn’t going to work. See, someone already tried that not too long ago, and as you can see, I’m perfectly fine!" He laughed in response.

"Not too long ago? I see, he must be talking about The Irregulars...hm, when I brought it up, Aster Stark seemed to believe that he defeated this bastard when I fought him outside the Quartz Ruins. Which means, making him regenerate repeatedly and drain his Mana is an effective method against him...but evidently, it is not enough to finish him off for good," She surmised warily, before her eyes widened in alarm as he suddenly leapt up towards her, reaching her altitude in the blink of an eye and meeting her gaze from a few centimeters in front of her with a smirk on his face.

He then grabbed her arms as she began to swing her sword at him, holding them down before pulling her along with him as he began to plummet.

She fired out a blast of flames at his head from her mouth, turning his face to ash before he swung his head forward as he regenerated, slamming his forehead against hers and severely dazing her as trickles of blood ran down her face from the middle of her forehead, right as her back collided against the ground with a thudding, painful impact, eliciting a sharp gasp from her as he landed on top of her.

He then got up and planted his right foot on her stomach, slowly pressing it down with increasing pressure, her vision blurring sharply as she coughed out blood with an agonized wheeze.

"Alright, I’ve had my fill with fighting you, it doesn’t look like you can entertain me any further. And besides, I should wrap things up for today, this was supposed to be nothing more than a glimpse of what’s to come, after all...well, not that you’ll be around to see it," He remarked, before driving his fist down towards her face.
