Chapter 677: Lightning Sword
Third Person’s POV
And now, the creature that had treated it like a slave and the other creature that had nearly killed it had both fallen into a path of mutual destruction.
From the sheep demon’s perspective, Ethan was now nothing more than a dying prey waiting to be harvested.
Seeing the demon steadily approaching him, Ethan’s thoughts moved like lightning.
His body was already in an extremely dangerous state.
The poison was spreading inside his body despite his best efforts to slow its spread.
But his mana was in a losing battle as it became increasingly unresponsive.
His mana veins were beginning to atrophy, like desiccated nerves.
And yet, he knew that none of that mattered if he couldn’t stay alive.
Whatever consequences awaited him afterward, surviving this moment came first.
Ethan’s fingers slowly tightened.
His gaze remained fixed on the approaching sheep demon as a decision gradually formed within his mind.
’Do I have no choice but to use that?’
His expression became complicated, as the thought of using that method filled his mind with reluctance.
’If I use it now... what a waste.’
Regret consumed Ethan as he prepared to summon a dark scroll into his palm.
Yet despite that regret, his fingers had already begun moving.
He had no intention of dying here, not after finally finding his mother, and not after finally reuniting with Aurelia.
And certainly not while those two women were still waiting behind him.
Whatever price he had to pay, he would pay it.
But it was at that moment that a bright white light suddenly flashed behind the sheep demon, illuminating the ruined surroundings like a miniature sun.
CRACKLE!
White lightning followed the blinding radiance, and a huge white sword crackling with brilliant white lightning suddenly pierced through the sheep demon’s back.
The blade entered directly through the barely healed hole in its chest that Ethan had created earlier, using the existing wound as the perfect path to its heart.
Ethan’s eyes widened in shock, as he hadn’t expected such an attack at all.
Even so, a strand of his soul sense remained wrapped around the black scroll inside his storage ring, ready to summon it at a moment’s notice.
The sound of thunder followed nearly half a second later.
BOOM!
The sheep demon’s enormous body froze.
Its expression was still plastered with the same gleeful smile from moments ago, as though it hadn’t yet understood what had happened.
Slowly, its eyes lowered toward the enormous white sword protruding from its chest.
Then, its expression changed.
The gleeful smile gradually disappeared, replaced by disbelief and finally pure terror.
The demon shouted with a face filled with bitter reluctance and fear, as it realized what was about to happen next.
But a cold, merciless voice that sounded from behind doused its final plea.
"Sword, detonate!"
The huge lightning sword suddenly began producing a series of sharp ringing sounds.
KRIIIIING!
In the next instant, the terrifying concentration of white lightning within the sword violently erupted.
BOOOOOOM!
Lethal crackles of lightning exploded in every direction, tearing through the sheep demon’s body from the inside.
Its upper body was blasted apart into chunks of flesh and shattered bones, while its blackish-red blood rapidly evaporated beneath the scorching heat of the lightning.
The remaining portion of its enormous body collapsed heavily onto the frozen ground.
THUD!
The sudden attack had ended the sheep demon’s life before it could even understand what had happened.
At the same time, the figures of Prince Erius’s and Princess Arlene’s party members emerged from behind.
At the very front stood Edhan.
White crackles of lightning still surrounded his outstretched arm, remnants of the attack he had just unleashed.
His blue eyes were fixed on Ethan as he assessed him carefully.
For a moment, Edhan’s eyes widened slightly.
But after seeing Ethan’s heavily wounded state, a faint look of disappointment appeared on his face.
It was as though Ethan’s current condition was far below the level he had expected after witnessing his previous battle.
However, that disappointment didn’t last long, because Edhan’s gaze soon shifted toward the strange blue blood scattered across the ground.
Corrosive smoke rose in the sky as the blue blood melted the ground persistently despite its owner having passed away.
Edhan’s eyes narrowed, as nearby were the dismembered pieces of the grotesque creature Ethan had just fought and killed.
Even after being reduced to countless pieces, its corpse continued to exude a deadly and dangerous aura.
Edhan’s expression immediately became serious.
The other party members also noticed the remains.
Their expressions changed one after another as they realized that another enemy must have appeared during the battle.
From the state of the corpse, however, it was obvious that the violet-haired young man standing before them had managed to slay the strange creature himself.
And the manner in which he had killed it was particularly brutal.
The creature had been reduced to pieces, with its toxic blue blood and pieces of flesh scattered across the ground.
Several of the party members couldn’t help but feel their faces turn ghastly at the sight.
There were, however, two people who paid no attention to the gruesome state of the corpse.
They were Eleanor and Aurelia.
The moment they saw Ethan’s heavily injured condition, both women hurriedly ran toward him.
Aurelia’s eyes were already filled with tears.
"A-Are you alright?"
The moment the words left her mouth, she cursed herself internally.
What a stupid question...
How could he possibly be alright in such a state?
His clothes were stained with blood, his body was covered in wounds, and the strange blackish-blue liquid had burned parts of his flesh.
Yet Ethan didn’t answer her question immediately.
He didn’t want to explain everything verbally in front of everyone.
Instead, he lowered his head slightly and whispered to the two women while taking out the two bluish-gray demonic needles that the deformed creature had used.
"I was inflicted with this creature’s poison."
As he spoke, Ethan gathered some of the creature’s blue blood into a magic bottle.
