Chapter 50: Horror
***
"How throughly vexing, how confounding! First we lost the trail and ended up in the middle of this a backwater place and now even the watermen aren’t helping us out. Such a thoroughly wretched day."
A beautiful girl in her late teens lamented as she walked along the side of the forest.
She was dressed in a simple but regal attire with a silk tunic and a skirt, with a fur cape on her back.
With a purse and a parasol in her hand, she gave off the perfect mix of nobility with some practical piece of clothing, just to move around comfortably but not suited for much activity.
Surprisingly she was asking across the land, something she wasn’t use to except for occassional few walks among the flower beds and gardens of ducal and royal houses.
Behind her, a tall woman in her mid to late twenties walked with two swords on her back, partial armour covering her body as she moved with precision, looking out for any possible danger.
As she moved, the girl kept complaining while the knight just listened with a neutral expression, offering occasions hums and nods along the way.
"If only those useless soldiers hadn’t gone and died on us. Father would be so mad. Regina, what should we do?"
The noble woman turned towards the knight with her expression almost on the verge of tears.
"You worry too much your highness. Lord Hart would understand. And we will eventually find a way to get back. Please have some strength."
The knight assured here sincerely as she nodded with a serious expression.
