The ground fire was burning, cracking and popping, and occasionally one could see a cluster of sparks burst forth, floating into the air and gradually dissipating.

Next to the fire, Angelica, Helois, and Iyeta were preparing dinner, while Antasia sat on the other side, her petite hands circling her knees, a look of worry on her fair little face.

Antia, with her petite frame, had her arms crossed over her chest, leaning against a large tree.

Even though they had left the Imperial City, a comfort zone, under the circumstances of the Hero’s depleted strength, this place was not the territory of Demons but still full of danger. Yet, it appeared that no one was aware of this peril, completely oblivious to the tense and oppressive atmosphere around them.

Completely unguarded.

"Antasia, you don’t need to worry too much," Qin Chu, noting Antasia’s anxiety, said comfortingly as he held a stick and gently prodded the ground fire: "There won’t be any problems."

"We might be slightly delayed today, but we will soon reach the Ice Duchy directly, which will be dozens of times faster than you returning alone by carriage."

Antasia sighed helplessly, aware of the numerous troubles Qin Chu also faced.

She could feel the oppressive air, permeated with the unique stench of Demons.

By now, the campsite must have already been surrounded by Demons, and more kept approaching continuously. These Demons were merely wary of each other, with none taking the initiative to strike first, but this delicate balance couldn’t last for too long.

Those were the creatures that sought to assassinate Qin Chu. He wouldn’t be at ease leaving Oville until all these Demons were eliminated, and for this purpose, he’d rather serve as bait himself.
