Chapter 39: Dealing With The Arcane Threat.
"I found her."
A smile immediately spread across Elias’ face the moment Garrett said those words. He tilted his head slightly, his eyes lighting up as he asked, "Really?"
Garrett nodded, his expression serious. "Yes."
Elias’ smile grew wider. "Finally."
For days, he had been restless. Ever since he heard about the Arcane Race member possessing a female human warrior somewhere inside Embergrove Forest, his mind hadn’t been at ease. The thought of something that dangerous lurking close to his territory had made it impossible to relax.
The dome was still holding, keeping threats out for now—but it wouldn’t last forever. Eventually, it would fall. And when it did, Elias’ territory would be left wide open. With that creature nearby, the danger was far too great to ignore.
What troubled him most wasn’t just the arcane being’s strength, but its nature—its power to split and possess others. An enemy that couldn’t be seen, one that could move from body to body without warning, one whose very existence meant fear, suspicion, and infiltration... That was the kind of threat Elias feared the most.
He had spent the past days thinking of ways to handle it. But before he could make any real move, he needed more information. Most importantly, he needed to find her.
That was where Garrett came in.
Garrett might not have been the strongest, but when it came to stealth, no one was better. While Vael’s ability was powerful, it only worked at night. Garrett’s, on the other hand, worked at any time—day or night. His concealment was so good that detecting him required an extremely high level of perception, something very few people had. Garrett was perfect for scouting.
Well... perfect for most people. Elias was the exception. Thanks to his system, he could still sense Garrett even when the young man was fully hidden. Still, when it came to the arcane member or others out there, Garrett’s skill was more than enough.
