Don't mind me, I am just here to draw

Chapter 31

After triumphing at the high-strike game and earning Blubby the Whale as their prize, Kokoro and Mika drifted deeper into the heart of the amusement park, carried by the lingering thrill of victory and the hum of laughter all around. Above them, the sky melted into twilight—soft strokes of rose and gold fading into indigo, like a watercolor left to bleed into night. Lights bloomed across the park in every shade imaginable, flickering from stalls, rides, and neon signs like playful fireflies celebrating the dusk. The air shimmered with the scent of caramel, popcorn, and summer heat, while the world around them seemed to sway in rhythm with their steps—as if, for just a moment, the park existed only for the two of them.

The air thrummed with life—bright with the laughter of children, the sharp whistles of ride conductors, and the rhythmic clatter of spinning rides and churning gears. Every sound blended into a symphony of joy and motion, a pulse that made the whole fairground feel alive. Kokoro held Blubby snug against his side, the plushie’s round belly pressing into his arm with familiar warmth. Beside him, Mika clung to his other side, her grip on Koro-chan the elephant almost reverent—cradling it like a treasure hard-won, her smile a quiet glow that rivaled the lights overhead.

Mika suddenly tugged at his arm, her touch featherlight but insistent. "Let’s hit more rides," she said, eyes gleaming, her voice dancing with mischief and barely contained excitement—like a spark ready to catch fire.

Kokoro arched a brow, a faint smile tugging at his lips. "So we’re looping back to that part of the date, huh?"

She nodded enthusiastically, her ponytail bouncing with the motion. "Minigames were fun, sure—but this is an amusement park! We’ve barely scratched the surface!"

He let out a soft sigh, the kind laced more with fondness than fatigue. "Alright, alright. Lead the charge, General Mika."

With a triumphant grin, she grabbed his hand and pulled him forward—into the kaleidoscope glow of lights, laughter, and whatever thrill awaited them.

After weaving through lantern-lit walkways and drifting past a carousel that turned slowly beneath a canopy of string lights—its golden horses gleaming like statues out of a dream—Mika suddenly halted, eyes wide with childlike delight. She pointed ahead, her voice rising like a bell. "That one! Let’s go there!"

Kokoro followed her gaze and found himself staring at a building that looked plucked straight from another era. Neon-blue letters pulsed over the entrance, flickering with a nostalgic hum: Bumper Blitz Arena.

The structure resembled a skating rink more than a traditional ride. Cool fog hissed faintly from vents at its base, and the moment they stepped closer, waves of light spilled out through the open archway. LED strips streaked across the floor in sweeping arcs of electric blue and frost-white, casting the illusion of gliding across frozen moonlight. It felt less like a park attraction and more like stumbling into a technomancer’s dream.

At the heart of the arena spun chaos contained—a transparent, circular cage where bumper cars crashed and swerved like wild sprites caught in a storm. Spectators crowded the outer railings, cheering, laughing, and slamming their palms against the barriers with each collision, their faces bathed in the shifting glow. Inside, riders howled with glee or mock frustration, their vehicles zipping across the glowing floor like enchanted beasts obeying no one.
