Chapter 2
The warm sunlight streamed through the windows of the Katsuragi household, casting a cozy glow over the breakfast table. Katsuragi Kokoro, a tall and handsome high school freshman, sat between his mother, Katsuragi Eniko, and his little sister, Katsuragi Yui. The aroma of freshly cooked rice and miso soup filled the air, mingling with the sound of sizzling bacon.
Eniko smiled as she watched her children eat. "Kokoro, Yui, are you both excited about going back to school? Especially you, Kokoro, it’s your first day of high school!"
Kokoro looked up from his breakfast, his black eyes slightly hesitant. "Yeah, I guess so. I’m a bit nervous."
Yui, who was busy munching on a piece of toast, suddenly piped up. "Hey, big brother, I’m sure you’ll make lots of friends... just like you did in middle school." Her tone was laced with sarcasm, and she giggled mischievously.
Kokoro’s face reddened slightly as he shot his sister a glare. "Hey, that’s not funny, Yui. I had friends... sort of."
Eniko chuckled, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "Oh, Kokoro, don’t mind Yui. You’ll do just fine in high school. You’re a smart boy."
Yui snickered again, her ponytail bouncing as she shook her head. "Yeah, sure, big brother. You’ll probably spend the whole year alone in the library, reading books."
Kokoro’s patience snapped, and he playfully tossed a piece of bread at Yui. "Shut up, Yui!"
Yui squealed, her eyes widening in mock horror. "Big brother’s attacking me!"
